Primary and High School

Hurd attended The Browning School, which is a United States college preparatory school for boys founded in 1888 by John A. Browning. The school offers study from Pre-Primary level through Form VI. He also attended Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame, a private Roman Catholic high school in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Miami, Florida, United States. The school is located and operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

College Education

After high school, he went on to college where he graduated in 1979 with a BBA (Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration) from Baylor University. He got the funds to sponsor his education on a tennis scholarship and was a member of Phi Delta Theta at Baylor. The Baylor University honored Mark Hurd with the 2012-2013 Baylor Meritorious Achievement Award in November 2012 during the University’s 103rd-anniversary Homecoming celebration.

Experience

Between 1980 and 2005, Hurd worked at NCR build strong products and establishing great leadership that will see the company improve its efficiency and generate more than 6 billion dollars in revenue. Starting out as a junior salesman for the company, he gradually went up the ladder of the organization leadership structure, holding various positions in operations, general management, marketing, and sales. He joined Hewlett-Packard in 2005 before resigning in 2010 to work with Oracle.
