Digital Modifications

Digital photography has brought us all many advantage's in being able to change what we don't like about a photograph. Below is an example of some of the things that can be done with the knowledge and power that today's photo editing tools provide.

Example #1

It's very simple, as we age, things change that we wish would not.

First, here is the shot that was taken with no alterations.

Now here is the same image after a bit of magic has been done.

Can you spot all the things that have been done to improve this portrait?

Please understand, I do not take the liberty to make such changes on my own, you must request this service.

I don't take it lightly to alter someone's look.

Retouching a blemish, whole different story.

Of course, first color correction has been done, but that would be the case no matter what.

Next, notice the hand on his shoulder to the left of the photograph, she didn't like her hand in the original image,

so we took her hand from another shot and replaced it.

My suggestion was to not even have the hand there at all, and I had some of the session images with no hand on his shoulder.

Next (moving from left to right), his age spots & moles, several were removed, again their request.

The reflections in his glasses as well as a little baggage under the eyes was worked on.

Also on his neck was a slice of direct sunlight that was distracting.

On the woman, you will see a good bit done with the face, the eyes, the bags under the eyes, the dark lenses of her glasses was something that she was concerned about at the very beginning of the session, and yet it is able to be corrected.

Also a little work to smooth the skin, and remove the look of the double chin were other things worked on.

Also I did whiten the teeth on both of them, and the white of their eyes on both.

An overall adjustment was made to also not just make the image fit the size ordered, but to improve the shot by making them both look a few pounds lighter.

For years I have been asked "Can you make me look skinny", and of course we don't need to go that far, but some can be done, and yet keep the image from looking strange and not right.

Let me say again, please understand, all the changes were asked for or requested, and in this case, they watched as I did them.

Normally I would not make any change unless it is requested, I don't take it lightly to alter someone's look on my own.
